Happy Wednesday!
I have some interesting health news to share with you this morning…

♥ Good news for chocolate lovers!

A new study finds that eating moderate amounts of chocolate may lower the risk of stroke in men. Researchers followed eating habits of more than 37,000 men for about 10 years. Those who ate the most chocolate had a 17% lower risk of stroke over those years than those who ate little or no chocolate. The study appears in the online medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

♥ But don’t go crazy and eat too much chocolate because a large body of evidence suggests that Alzheimer’s could be a metabolic disease.

Some scientists have even started calling it type 3 diabetes. They believe Alzheimer’s is caused by the brain’s impaired response to insulin.
These new finding were published in this months New Scientist.

♥ Second hand smoke could damage everyday memory. This is according to a new study published in the journal Addiction. The team found that non-smokers exposed to second-hand smoke forgot almost 20% more in memory tests than non-smokers not exposed to smoke. Both groups out-performed the current smokers who forgot 30% more than those who were not exposed to second-hand smoking.

♥ If you like to read from your tablet computer or your cell phone before bed, it could be affecting your sleep. A new study from the Lighting Research Center shows that a two-hour exposure to electronic devices with “backlit” displays causes melatonin suppression by up to 22%. This might lead to delayed bedtimes, especially in teens. Researchers recommended limiting time and dimming devices at night as much as possible.
